Do you ever wonder what it would be like to change your name? What freedom it could give you? It may surprise you to know that many Famous People have done just that. Some have changed their first name, some have changed their last name, and some have changed their entire name!
It is common for Famous People to change their names to something more suitable. You have to stand out in the A-list world, right? But many other celebrities opted for a different name.
Here we reveal famous people who have changed their name, either in part or in full:
Judy Garland – Her original name was Frances Ethel Grumm
Emma Stone – Originally known as Emily Stone, but at the time of her initial fame, there was already an actress of that name.
Meghan Markle – Rachel Meghan Markle is her real name, and coincidentally Rachel was her character’s name in Suits.
Jessie J -Jessica Ellen Cornish is her real name, but she shortened it to Jess and added a J that apparently means different things depending on her mood. Some of which are ‘Jetlag’ and ‘Jazz hands.
Jude Law – His real name is David Jude Law, but he switched to using his middle name.
Simon Pegg – Simon John Beckingham was his original name, but Simon decided to take on his stepfather’s surname when his mother remarried.
Michael J Fox – His name was actually Michael Andrew Fox, but when he learned of another Michael Andrew Fox, he dropped the middle name and used ‘J’ instead.
Julianne Moore – The actress was born Julie Anne Smith, but decided to blend her first and middle name and drop the Smith for Moore, which was her father’s middle name.
Nicole Scherzinger – Born Nicole Valiente, she changed her name to Scherzinger when adopted by her stepfather.
Jodie Foster – Her real name is Alicia Foster, but her siblings used to call her Jodie, so she carried it into her acting career.
Joan Rivers – This is, in fact, her stage name. Her real name is Joan Molinsky, but she was advised to change it by her agent.
Charlotte Church – Charlotte’s original surname was Reed, but she changed it when her stepfather adopted her.
Grace Jones – Her real name was Grace Mendoza, and why she changed it is unknown.
David Walliams – David was born a Williams but felt Walliams would help him stand out more. We have to agree.
